British woman gives birth at 62
YOUR E-MAIL ALERTSLONDON, England -- A 62-year-old child psychiatrist has become Britain's oldest mother after undergoing fertility treatment abroad, UK media reported. Both mother and her three-day-old son are doing well, her husband told the UK's Press Association Saturday. Patti Farrant gave birth at the age of 62 on Wednesday after receiving treatment from controversial Italian fertility expert Severino Antinori. The healthy baby, weighing 6lb 10.5 ozs and known as JJ, was delivered by caesarean section at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. Patti, a child psychiatrist known professionally as Dr. Patricia Rashbrook, already has three grown-up children, but husband John Farrant, 60, a higher education management consultant, is a first-time father. Speaking on the steps of the couple's four-storey townhouse in Lewes, East Sussex, he told PA: "I'm happy, we are happy," he said. He added that at the moment Patti and JJ had no need to leave the house. "He's had enough excitement the last couple of days," he said.
