LONDON, England (CNN) -- Four Rwandans were arrested on provisional extradition warrants Thursday in Great Britain, charged with crimes related to the 1994 mass killings of members of the Tutsi ethnic group in the African nation. According to a release from London's Metropolitan Police, the Rwandan government requested the men's extradition. The police identified the four men as Vincent Bajinya, Charles Munyaneza, Celestin Ugirashebuja and Emmanuel Nteziryayo of Manchester. The warrants allege that each of the men killed "members of the Tutsi ethnic group with the intent to destroy in whole or in part, that group" and conspired with and aided and abetted others to do so. Around 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were massacred by Hutus in the 1994 genocide. The four were scheduled to appear at Magistrate Court in Westminster on Friday. |
