Mr. Peres is one of the key supporters of the "Industry for Peace Initiative." The initiative hopes to encourage peace in the region through development of economic opportunity in the Palestinian territories.

Shimon Peres was born in Poland in 1923 and immigrated to Israel with his family as a child. Mr. Peres served as a Member of the Knesset from 1959 until June 2007, when he was elected President. He also served as Minister of Defense, Minister of Immigrant Absorption, and Minister of Transport and Communications.

In 1984, when a National Unity Government was formed, Mr. Peres served first as its Prime Minister (1984-1986), and then as Vice Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs (1986-1988). During his term as Prime Minister, Israel withdrew from Lebanon and an economic stabilization plan was implemented. Shimon Peres shared the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize with Yasser Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin.

Turkey Foreign Investment:
Turkey is an important supporter of the "Industry for Peace Initiative." With its strategic position between Europe and the Middle East, Turkey is well aware of how investment can support economic growth.

A series of business-friendly reforms in Turkey have sparked an influx of Foreign Direct Investment, which has increased 20-fold since 2002. MME travels to a Toyota plant in Sakarya to look first-hand at an example of investment in Turkey by a global brand.

MME also interviews government leaders and business experts in Turkey to gain more insight into the investment going on in this large, dynamic, and strategically important country.
