BERLIN, Germany -- WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev has returned to training just a month after he suffered a stomach injury which forced him to cancel next month's unification contest against WBO champion Sultan Ibragimov.

Chagaev was forced to miss his unification bout with Sultan Ibragimov because of a stomach injury.

Chagaev called off the October 13 fight -- but he hopes to be back in the ring before the end of 2007 and possibly re-schedule the showdown.

The 28-year-old Uzbek, who now resides in Hamburg and is nicknamed the "White Mike Tyson", took the WBA belt when he defeated Nikolay Valuev on a points decision last April.

"The problem meant I had to call the fight off, but I am hoping the chance will come again and I can get a second belt," said Chagaev.

"If everything goes to plan, hopefully I can still unite the titles." E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
