SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium -- Kimi Raikkonen has claimed pole position for Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix as Ferrari piled on the misery for bitter rivals McLaren.

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen claimed his third pole position this season in Belgium.

The Finn will be joined on the front row by team-mate Felipe Massa, while McLaren's Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton are third on the grid at Spa-Francorchamps.

Raikkonen, who won here when the race was last held in 2005, lapped the scenic 4.325-mile track in one minute, 45.994 seconds, holding an edge of .017 seconds over Brazil's Massa.

Raikkonen, who trails Hamilton by 18 points in fourth overall, achieved his third pole this season as he seeks a third successive victory at the venue.

World champion Alonso, who is looking to cut the three-point overall lead held by Hamilton, clocked 1:46.091 -- a margin of 0.315 margin over the British rookie.

Both drivers were allowed to keep their points after testifying in the Ferrari spy scandal, which saw McLaren fined $100 million on Thursday.

And with McLaren also stripped of all constructors' points for 2007, Ferrari have taken over first place and have a 57-point lead ahead of nearest rivals BMW Sauber.

Alonso, who has been implicated in the highly-publicized spy row, spun off with just five minutes to go in qualifying. He scrambled back to the pits and got back on track to put in one final fast lap.

Robert Kubica set the fifth fastest time, but will start well down the grid after receiving a 10-position penalty as he needed an engine change following final practice.

So the Pole's Sauber team-mate Nick Heidfeld was promoted to sixth, behind Williams driver Nico Rosberg.

Red Bull's Mark Webber is seventh, having out-performed team-mate David Coulthard for the 13th time out of 14 race weekends this year, as the Scot languished in 13th place ahead of Jenson Button's Honda. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
