The American beat Jankovic in the quarterfinals of the Bali Open last week, and will again take on the Serb in the semifinals of the China Open.

The former world No. 1 quit tennis after losing in the quarterfinals in Beijing last year, and gave birth to her son Jagger just three months ago.

After storming to the title in Indonesia, Davenport has continued her fine form this week, and reached the last four with a 7-6 (7-1) 6-1 defeat of Russian fourth seed Elena Dementieva on Friday.

Second seed Jankovic, who lost in the semi-finals last year, progressed after beating Japan's Akiko Morigami 6-3 7-5.

Sixth seed Agnes Szavay of Hungary also reached the semifinals with a 6-2 6-4 victory against Maria-Emilia Salerni. The Argentine was included in the draw as a lucky loser when top seed Svetlana Kuznetsova pulled out due to injury.

Szavay will next face unseeded home hope Peng Shuai, who stunned third seed Amelie Mauresmo of France with a 4-6 6-4 6-2 victory.

The Chinese player followed up her upset win over fifth seed Martina Hingis in the quarterfinals.

Top-seeded Tatiana Golovin advanced to the semifinals of the Slovenia Open on Friday, beating Meilen Tu 6-3 6-2.

Eighth-seeded Vera Dushevina reached the semifinals by ousting Vera Zvonareva 6-4 3-6 7-6.

The match featured several baseline duels before Dushevina ended the match with one of her five aces.

"It was a tough match till the end," said Dushevina, who knows Zvonareva from practicing together.

The 20-year-old Dushevina is looking for her first career WTA Tour title.

Seventh-seeded Gisela Dulko upset second-seeded Sybille Bammer 7-6 1-6 6-1.

She will play fourth-seeded Katarina Srebotnik, who advanced by beating Emilie Loit 6-3 6-3. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
