Schlake players celebrate Altintop's opening goal in their 2-0 victory at Duisburg.

Turkish international Halil Altintop fired home an unstoppable right-foot shot to put Schalke ahead in the third minute.

Germany striker Kevin Kuranyi wrapped up the points with his fourth goal of the season in the second-half.

"We played some good football, particularly in the second half, and could have won by a wider margin," said Altintop.

The result leaves Schalke and league leaders Bayern Munich as the only two sides yet to be beaten this season.

Hertha Berlin were beaten 3-1 at home by Hansa Rostock, despite taking an early lead through striker Marko Pantelic's fifth goal in four games,

Christian Rahn and Sebastian Haehnge turned things around for Hansa and French striker Regis Dorn scored in the 74th minute to seal their second consecutive win after losing their first five games.

Hamburg have moved up to third in the table with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Borussia Dortmund.

Peruvian striker Jose Paolo Guerrero opened the scoring in the seventh minute before captain Rafael van der Vaart scored his fifth goal of the season. Croatian striker Ivica Olic completed the rout with a goal in the 64th minute.

"That was painful," said Dortmund coach Thomas Doll. "We were poor in the first half and didn't follow the game-plan, we disappointed the supporters and all I can do is apologise on the teams behalf."

Leaders Bayern are in action on Wednesday and can open a four-point gap over Schalke against bottom-side Energie Cottbus while champions Stuttgart are at home to Bochum. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
