MILAN, Italy -- Inter Milan set a Serie A record on Saturday with their 3-1 victory at Torino securing a 12th consecutive win.

Goals from Adriano, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marco Materazzi, from the spot, enabled them, to break Roma's 11-game run.

Roma set the record last season but Roberto Mancini's Inter side continued their impressive form with a triumph in Turin that leaves them 10 points clear at the top of the table.

Second-placed Roma are at Messina on Sunday.

Inter took the lead at a capacity 25,000 Olympic stadium in Turin through Brazilian Adriano who headed home a cross from compatriot Maicon in the 24th minute.

Twice before the break the visitors went close to a second.

First, French midfielder Patrick Vieira forced an excellent save from Christian Abbiati following a smart backheel from Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Then Ibrahimovic produced another moment of skill to set up Adriano but this time the Brazilian failed to make the most of his opportunity.

Torino equalized in the 58th minute when a shot from midfielder Stefano Fiore deflected off Inter's Italy defender Marco Materazzi and flew past Julio Cesar.

But just two minutes later Ibrahimovic, looking at his very best, restored Inter's lead with a superb angled drive.

Brought down

Inter's third came when Adriano was brought down by Abbiati in the area and the Torino keeper was sent off before Materazzi fired his spot kick past substitute Massimo Taibi.

Mancini told Italy's Sky Sport television that his team did not plan to celebrate the record and that he was more concerned with earning the three points towards their title bid.

"To be honest, we haven't talked about the record at all. It is a win that can help us to achieve our objective -- if we achieve our goal this season we will celebrate then."

Empoli climbed to sixth with a 2-0 win over struggling Parma. Andrea Raggi and Davide Matteini scored for the Tuscans while Parma had Ferdinand Coly sent off just before the hour.

Ibrahomic was at his sharpest and scored Inter's second with an angled drive.
