BUCHAREST, Romania -- Romania coach Victor Piturca has named captain Cristian Chivu in his squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Netherlands and Luxembourg later this month, even though the defender has had surgery after breaking his nose. Chivu's nose was broken in several places during AS Roma's 2-0 Champions League win at Olympique Lyon on Tuesday. Doctors said they would decide next week if Chivu could play against Netherlands on March 24 and Luxembourg four days later. Overseas selections: Defenders: Cosmin Contra (Getafe), Gabriel Tamas (Celta Vigo), Cristian Chivu (AS Roma), Razvan Rat (Shakhtar Donetsk) Midfielders: Paul Codrea (Siena), Razvan Cocis (Lokomotiv Moscow), Laurentiu Rosu (Recreativo Huelva), Florentin Petre (CSKA Sofia) Forwards: Daniel Niculae (Auxerre), Ciprian Marica (Shakhtar Donetsk), Adrian Mutu (Fiorentina). Players from the domestic championship will complete the squad later this month. Romania are third in Group G with seven points from three matches.
