KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Jamaica came from behind to hold Panama to a 1-1 draw in their friendly football international at the National Stadium late on Monday.

Panama's Jose Luis Garces silenced the 16,554 crowd in the third minute with a ferocious shot, but Luton Shelton won back the fans with an equalizer on halftime.

Shelton, who is with English Premier League side Sheffield United, fired home past Panama keeper Jose Calderon.

"It was a good result for us because it is not easy to beat Jamaica in Jamaica," said Panama's coach Alexandre Guimares.

Jamaica's equalizer came from Shelton, left, seen in action against Australia.
