Red Star through to face Rangers

PARIS, France (Reuters) -- Former European champions Red Star Belgrade set up a Champions League third round qualifying third clash with Rangers despite a 2-1 defeat at Estonian champions Levadia Tallin on Wednesday.

Red Star, who won the European Cup in 1991, advanced on the away goals rule after winning the first leg 1-0 at home.

Playmaker Igor Burzanovic netted the decisive goal in the 37th minute for the Serbian champions.

Steaua Bucharest, European Cup winners in 1986, also advanced with a 3-1 aggregate win over Poland's Zaglebie Lubin.

Following a 1-0 home defeat in the first leg, the Polish side levelled the tie when Michal Stasiak opened the scoring in the 29th minute.

Steaua, however, equalised through Banel Nicolita seven minutes from the interval and wrapped up victory when Dorel Zaharia made it 2-1 in the 82nd minute.

Steaua next meet Belarus champions Bate Borisov, who drew 1-1 with Iceland's Hafnarfjordur to advance 4-2 on aggregate.

Belgium's Racing Genk suffered a shock exit after failing to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Sarajevo. Genk won 1-0 in Bosnia but bowed out on the away goals rule.

Ivory Coast's Abdoulrazak Traore scored a hat-trick in Rosenborg's 7-1 thrashing of Astana to send the Norwegian team through with a 10-2 aggregate victory.

Big spending Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine came from behind to beat 10-man Pyunik of Armenia 2-1 and progressed with a 4-1 aggregate win.

Oleksandr Gladkiy, one of a host of recent signings including Mexican striker Nery Castillo, was on the spot with Brandao after both players had already netted in the first leg.
