LONDON, England -- Kieron Dyer has concluded his on-off move from Newcastle to West Ham after the two Premier League teams finally agreed a deal for his transfer.

Dyer is leaving Newcastle to sign with fellow Premier League side West Ham.

The England midfielder, who has been keen to leave St James' Park to be closer to his family, looked like he had missed out on the chance to join the east London club when the deal stalled earlier this month.

West Ham had agreed a fee for the 28-year-old, who can play across the midfield or as a support striker, but the deal hit the buffers when the Magpies decided to up their valuation of the player from around $12 million to nearer $16 million.

West Ham manager Alan Curbishley was pleased to have finally clinched the signing and revealed that they had carried out a medical on Dyer and agreed personal terms over a week ago.

"We are delighted to get the player in. If you look at his history over the last couple of years he missed a lot of games with his hamstring - but once he got it sorted, he played 33 games and scored eight goals.

"He also played for England against Spain, Brazil and Andorra - so he is a current England international, and we are delighted to have him on board."

Dyer, who has earned 32 England caps since making his debut in 1999, will link up with a clutch of former Newcastle team-mates including Scott Parker, Craig Bellamy and Lee Bowyer - with whom he had a infamous on-field scuffle in April 2005 - at Upton Park.

He joins a clutch of other West Ham signings over the summer with Julien Faubert, Freddie Ljungberg and Richard Wright being added to the ranks in addition to Bellamy and Parker.

Dyer's career has been hit by a series of injuries since bursting to prominence with now second-flight Ipswich before a big-money move to north-east giants Newcastle.

Egypt international striker Mido completed his move to Middlesbrough from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday in a six million pounds ($11.92 million) deal.

Boro said Mido, 24, had signed a four-year contract, had been granted a work permit and was available for Saturday's away trip to Fulham.

"He is someone I played against as a player and he always impressed me," Boro manager Gareth Southgate told the club's Web site."He's got good technical ability and he's a goalscorer.

"When you've got one of the best crossers of the ball in the league in Stewart Downing, you want someone like Mido who can head the ball."

Middlesbrough, whose Australia striker Mark Viduka joined north-east rivals Newcastle United in June, have lost their first two league games of the season.

Mido had been set to join Birmingham City in the close season but a move fell through.

The African Young Player of the Year for 2002, Mido has played previously for Zamalek, Ghent, Ajax, Celta Vigo, Olympique Marseille and Roma in an itinerant career.

He scored five times in 23 appearances for Tottenham in the 2006/07 season.

Former Dutch international striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has joined Cardiff City, the second division team said on Thursday.

The 35-year-old has been without a club since he was released by Charlton Athletic at the end of last season.

Hasselbaink will link up with former England striker Robbie Fowler, who joined the Welsh side in July following his release by Liverpool.

"I do not think anyone would have believed going into the close season it would be possible to get players like them," chairman Peter Ridsdale told the club's Web site.

Former Chelsea, Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Atletico Madrid player Hasselbaink won 23 caps for his country. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
