YEREVAN, Armenia -- Cristiano Ronaldo scored an outstanding equalizer to help Portugal draw 1-1 away to Armenia in their Euro 2008 qualifier on Wednesday.

Ronaldo netted a superb first-half equalizer as Portugal were held away to unfancied Armenia.
The Manchester United winger fired in a superb solo effort in the 38th minute after robbing an opponent and jinking his way into the penalty area before sliding the ball into the net.
The 22-year-old is serving a three-match domestic ban after being sent off against Portsmouth.
Hosts Armenia had taken a shock lead when Robert Arzumanyan headed in a corner in the 10th minute.
The result left Portugal in third place in Group A, four points behind Poland and two adrift of Finland - who have both played one more game.
Finland closed the gap on Poland after beating Kazakhstan 2-1 at home, with goals from Alexei Eremenko Jr and Teemu Tainio.
Eremenko Jr netted the opener after 13 minutes, but Dmitriy Byakov leveled for the second-bottom visitors 10 minutes later.
Midfielder Tainio, who has not played for his English club Tottenham since going off in the first game of the Premier League season on August 11, scored the winner just after the hour.
"Tainio played very well. On Saturday he said he was not fit to play, but we persuaded him to come and he scored the winning goal," Finland coach Roy Hodgson said.
Also in Group A, Belgium dented the qualification hopes of fourth-placed Serbia with a 3-2 victory in Brussels.
Moussa Dembele and Kevin Mirallas put the home side 2-0 up after 29 minutes before Zdravko Kuzmanovic pulled a goal back on 73.
Mirallas restored Belgium's two-goal buffer in the 87th minute but Kuzmanovic also grabbed his second 60 seconds later to ensure a tense finish.
Northern Ireland climbed above Spain into second place in Group F as David Healy continued his remarkable scoring run in the 3-1 win over Liechtenstein in manager Nigel Worthington's first match in charge.
The striker, who has netted twice in three games this season for his new club Fulham, took his tally for the qualifying campaign to 11 with two more goals at Windsor Park.
Healy headed the opener from Keith Gillespie's cross in the fifth minute, then smashed home a superb 20-yard effort after taking advantage of a defensive error.
His young strike partner Kyle Lafferty scored his first international goal in the 56th minute, making amends for a glaring first-half miss, while Mario Frick scored a late consolation for the visitors.
Meanwhile, in the battle of the bottom Group E nations, Indrek Zelinksi snatched a last-minute goal to earn nine-man Estonia an ill-tempered 2-1 win at home to Andorra.
Zelinski tapped home in injury-time after a pass by substitute Tarmo Kink - and was then shown a red card for taking his shirt off in celebration.
Estonia opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a header from Raio Piiroja, but Ragnar Klavan was sent off just before halftime for holding a player on the ground.
Andorra took until the 87th minute to take advantage of their extra man, with Fernando Silva heading in the equalizer, and Zelinski's late winner meant they were denied a first point of the campaign.
In Group D, Cyprus condemned San Marino to a seventh successive defeat with Yiannis Okkas scoring the only goal in the 53rd minute in Serravalle. E-mail to a friend ![]()
