MILAN,Italy -- AC Milan forward Ronaldo traveled to Belgium on Thursday to have his left knee examined by a doctor.

Ronaldo moved to Milan from Real Madrid in January

Milan health coordinator Jean Pierre Meersseman announced the trip in an interview with the Web site Controcampo, saying Ronaldo would visit specialist Marc Martens.

The Brazil striker's knee problem ruled him out of Milan's first two games of the Serie A season -- as well as the European Super Cup win over Sevilla last week.

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has said he expects Ronaldo back for Milan's next game against Siena on September 15, or when the squad starts the defense of its Champions League title against Benfica three days later.

Ronaldo, transferred to Milan from Real Madrid in January, was ineligible to play for the squad when it won the Champions League last season because he began the competition with the Spanish club.

Bayern Munich's summer signing Jose Ernesto Sosa will be out for the next six weeks after having an ankle operation earlier this week, the German side has revealed.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, signed from Argentinian premier division side Estudiantes in the summer, but stretched his ankle ligaments in pre-season and has also struggled with a back injury since his arrival.

Sosa made the second of his two brief appearances off the bench in last Sunday's 1-1 draw in Hamburg, but aggravated his ankle trouble, and bone splinters were removed on Monday.

If Sosa's recovery proceeds according to plan, the Argentinian international could be back for Bayern's Bundesliga trip to Bochum on October 20.

Lyon's Czech striker Milan Baros will miss the Euro 2008 Championship qualifier against San Marino on Saturday because of a back injury, the Republic's team doctor announced on Thursday.

"Unfortunately, the worst scenario has been confirmed. It is not just a muscle injury but also a small haematoma," Petr Krejci declared in a news conference in Prague.

"He needs a complete rest in the coming days," he added. Baros was injured during training on Wednesday. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
