Schalke's Brazilian defender Rafinha fired them up to second place in the German Bundesliga table by converting a 44th minute penalty which gave them a 1-0 home win over Hertha Berlin.

Rafinha's 44th minute penalty was enough to give Schalke victory
Midfield player Jermaine Jones was fouled by Berlin defender Steve von Bergen in the area and Rafinha's powerful kick beat Czech goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny.
Berlin created few chances and Hertha's Swiss coach Lucien Favre brought on Nigerian striker Solomon Okoronkwo near the end, to no effect.
Schalke nearly added a second when German striker Kevin Kuranyi shot wide 15 minutes from time.
The win put Schalke alongside Bayern Munich as the only unbeaten sides in the league, Hertha are now fifth.
