ROME, Italy -- Roma, a goal down in two minutes, went ahead three times before having to settle for a point in a 4-4 draw at home to Napoli in front of a half-empty Stadio Olimpico.

Zalayeta gave Napoli a deserved point when he headed home six minutes from time.

With Roma dropping two points Inter Milan were able to go five points clear at the top of the Serie A table with a 1-0 win at Reggina.

Adriano was the scorer in the 18th minute.

Napoli fans stayed away because of fears of clashes with Roma ultras but the visitors stormed into the lead when Ezequiel Lavezzi hammered a shot into the roof of the net.

Francesco Totti equalized with his seventh league goal of the season, from a 30th minute penalty, after Paolo Cannavaro tripped David Pizarro, and Roma went ahead four minutes before the break, when Simone Perrotta netted after Gennaro Iezzo parried Totti's shot.

Napoli started the second session even better than the first, Marek Hamsik firing home 30 seconds after the resumption.

Roma led again when Daniele De Rossi scored after 52 minutes only for Walter Gargano to crack in a 30-yarder 12 minutes later. Napoli could have gone in front when Lavezzi sent in a stinging volley but the shot rattled the woodwork.

Pizarro's deflected free-kick flew in to send Roma 4-3 up with 10 minutes to go but Napoli snatched a deserved point when Marcello Zalayeta headed home five minutes from time. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
