MADRID, Spain -- Sevilla's youth team coach Manuel Jimenez will coach the senior side for the rest of the season after the departure of Juande Ramos.

Ramos stepped down on Friday night and is poised to take charge of English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, who sacked coach Martin Jol on Thursday.

Jimenez, 43, played 354 times for Sevilla in the league during 14 seasons and has also represented Spain at full-back.

He has played a major role in developing home-grown players in his seven years coaching Sevilla Atletico.

Jimenez was in charge of Saturday morning's training session as the side prepared for their home league match with Valencia on Sunday.

After an uncertain start to the campaign Sevilla lie 11th in the Primera Liga, with nine points from seven matches.

They have recorded two Champions League victories, but went down 3-0 at Arsenal. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
