DONETSK, Ukraine -- Filippo Inzaghi matches Gerd Mueller's all-time European scoring record as Champions League holders AC Milan moved to the brink of a last-16 place with a 3-0 victory away to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Supersub Inzaghi celebrates after matching the all-time European scoring record by taking his tally to 62.
Inzaghi unlocked the game for the Italians when producing a second half double -- that took his tally to 62 -- and also setting up Kaka for another to point Milan to the top of Group D with two games remaining.
The 34-year-old was sent on as a 63rd minute substitute with the game goalless and within three minutes made his mark.
Andrea Pirlo halted a Shakhtar attack before supplying a defense-splitting to Filippo Inzaghi who fired beyond Andriy Pyatov.
Six minutes later Inzaghi was at the center of the second goal when he chested a ball down in the box for Kaka to shoot in by the far post -- and he wrapped up the game with his second in the third minute of injury time.
Pirlo was involved again, finding Kaka who unselfishly rolled the ball across for Inzaghi to score in the empty net for his landmark goal.
Milan had enjoyed the bulk of possession in the first half but were unable to unlock Shakhtar's tight defense.
With Ronaldo watching from the subs bench on his first European 'appearance' for the club Milan exploded into life in the second half.
'The game was preceded by a minute's silence to mark the passing of Milan's Swedish legend Nils Liedholm, who died at the weekend at the age of 85.
Celtic captain Stephen McManus spoke in glowing terms of matchwinner Aiden McGeady after the 1-0 Champions League victory over Benfica kept the Scottish giants in the hunt.
Winger McGeady had an outstanding match and hit the deflected winning strike just before half-time as Celtic took their points tally to six from four games.
McManus believes McGeady is becoming increasingly important to the Celtic cause saying: "Until you work with the guy you cannot realise how much ability he's got and he's going to be a top, top player."
Reflecting on the significance of victory, which gives Celtic a chance of reaching the last 16, McManus added on ITV1 Scotland: "We're still in with a chance which was the most important thing and we look forward to the next game."
Shakhtar Donetsk, who beat Celtic 2-0 in Ukraine in both teams' group opener, will be the next European opponents for Gordon Strachan's side in three weeks' time.
Portuguese hopes Benfica threatened early on and Maxi Pereira fired just over from 12 yards before Celtic keeper Artur Boruc blocked a point-blank shot from Oscar Cardozo.
Benfica goalkeeper Quim needed to be at his best to save a long-range shot from Scott Brown with Scott McDonald drawing another save as Celtic cranked up the pressure.
Celtic took the lead on the stroke of half-time through a superb shot from McGeady just outside the box, which took a deflection off Luisao and into the back of the net.
Cardozo squandered a good chance to haul Benfica level when he rose high in the box to meet a Leo cross only to nod wide from six yards.
Celtic survived another scare when Lee Naylor hooked an Edcarlos header off the line, before passing up a great chance to all but put the game beyond Benfica.
With only the keeper to beat, Brown saw his powerful shot parried before nodding over the crossbar from the rebound. E-mail to a friend ![]()
