LONDON, England -- Bulgarian international Dimitar Berbatov is not for sale say Tottenham Hotspur after his four-goal super display against Reading fueled speculation that he would be a transfer target in the January window.

Dimitar Berbatov, center, celebates his four-goal haul with fellow Spurs striker Jermain Defoe.
Club chairman Daniel Levy issued a statement on the Premier League club's Web site in an attempt to discourage potential suitors.
"Once again for the record, we are not a selling club, rather we are building for the future," he said.
"When we have players on long contracts we have no need to entertain offers," said Levy who also insisted that the north-London club would not be making big signings in January.
He revealed that he had discussed possible targets with manager Juande Ramos and sporting director Damien Comolli.
"Juande, Damien and I have reviewed the squad and Juande feels that we are not looking at any major changes," he said.
"We are all clear that the January window is the worst time to buy quality players so we shall not be doing any business that is not essential."
Berbatov and fellow strikers Darrern Bent and Jermain Defoe have all been the subject of media speculation that they would be leaving White Hart Lane, with rumors of a move for Berbatov the strongest.
After a slow start to the season, the skilful striker has found top form and his goals saw Tottenham to a 6-4 win over Reading on Saturday as Spurs push towards the top half of the standings after a dismal start under Martin Jol who was sacked in October. E-mail to a friend ![]()
