LONDON, England -- U.S. Open winner Angel Cabrera has pulled out of next week's French Open.

Cabrera flew home to Argentina after becoming his country's first major winner for 40 years, holding off Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk in the final round at Oakmont on Sunday.

Cabrera has given no reason for his decision not to play at Le Golf National near Versailles when the French Open begins on June 28, the European Tour said at the BMW International Open at Munich.

Cabrera has indicated he will return to the European Tour for the Scottish Open in the week before golf's third major of the year, the British Open, at Carnoustie July 19-22.

Ryder Cup heroes Darren Clarke and Ian Woosnam have also pulled out of the French Open.
