STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Reuters) -- Sweden's Maria Hjorth and Linda Wessberg, along with Norway's Iben Tinning, were selected as captain's picks on Tuesday for Europe's Solheim Cup side.

Hjorth tees off on the 18th at St Andrews on the way to a joint second place in the British Open.
"Mimi has played really well recently, particularly obviously at the HSBC Women's Matchplay and the Women's British Open, which were two world class events on testing golf courses," captain Helen Alfredsson said of Hjorth, a four-time tournament winner.
Tinning has competed in the last three Solheim Cups.
"Iben Tinning is another strong player with plenty of experience and some solid recent form," Alfredsson said.
"We've been impressed by Iben's short game in recent events and her ability to make important putts. We also really like her attitude and her mental strength."
Wessberg will make her Solheim Cup debut.
Sweden's Annika Sorenstam and Sophie Gustafson, Suzann Pettersen of Norway and Briton Catriona Matthew have qualified as the top Europeans on the world rankings.
The five qualifiers from the European money list are British trio Trish Johnson, Laura Davies and Becky Brewerton, France's Gwladys Nocera and Bettina Hauert of Germany.
The U.S. side will be finalized next week for the match at the Halmstad Golf Club in south west Sweden from Sept. 14-16. E-mail to a friend ![]()
