Sydney is a great city that we visited in autumn 2006. Although only just a couple days there, we feel that we will come back again someday, for the atmosphere is so so so romantic. Strolling at the Royal Botanic Garden, just enjoying the ships passing by, hmm, what a feeling. My wife enjoyed the QVB very much, she said that it is the best shopping mall the she has ever visited, vintage style but with modern and trendy shops, and delicious cake shops too. Don't forget to visit the Archibald Fountain at Hyde Park, especially at dusk, you will have a wonderful mood there, seeing the Sydney Tower and St Mary Cathedral from the park.

All of Baz's films transport the viewer to a heavenly place, and Sydney is no different. I visited Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra this year and I have to say, Sydney was my favorite. It's old world city meets adventure sports, high class eating with patches of hooliganism, and a whole lot of beautiful.

Is Baz Luhrmann the man who directed that atrocious Chanel ad with Nicole Kidman? As if Moulin Rouge wasn't bad enough, he had to reprise the whole nonsense in an overblown commercial. Good grief. Still, he's right about Sydney -- a great city.

The Rocks are home to some of Sydney's best pubs, including The Australian. Great beer and gourmet pizza -- althought the jury is still out on the kangaroo topping.

Another great day escape from Sydney is the Blue Mountains. it can get a bit congested with tourists, but the stunning forest and mountain scenery is worth it.

Baz Luhrmann is an amazing director and I am a huge fan of his work. I found it extremely interesting to learn about Sydney from his point of view. He obviously loves everything about his home town, and I can tell it has been a big inspiration for him. He is very enthusiastic about Sydney, and the video in particular is an amusing and entertaining insight into Baz's perception of this wondeful city. Almost 3 years ago I came to Sydney for what was supposed to be a 4 months university exchange program... I could not leave. The city is magic. Just a few days ago, I spent the day cruising the harbour during the Sydney to Hobart yatch race, then headed down to the casino to see the play of Priscilla Queen of the Desert... ending up at the trendy bars in Kings Cross. I couldn't ask more for a city: perfect panoramas, culture, and endless nightlife. And famous neighbours! like Baz, who lives just next door.

A must see in Sydney is Toronga Zoo. It has some the most beautiful harbour view in the city and it's one of the most gorgeous zoo's you'll ever visit. Even if you're not a zoo lover...you'll love it. The bird show is particularly spectacular as you sit in and outdoor amphitheater with Sydney harbour, the bridge and the opera house as your backdrop. Beautiful birds start flying in from all around you, swooping over the crowds. It's amazing. Another hot spot is Balmoral beach which you've mentioned. It's one of the prettiest beaches in the entire city and they have some of the best fish and chips you'll ever eat. A true Sydneyite visit to Blamoral must include fish and chips!

Keep your eyes open for possums in the trees - they're so cute! But the beach is the best. And it's so CLEAN! How do they keep it so clean?
