(InStyle.comexternal link) -- If you're looking for some VIP treatment or just some star sightings, try these Los Angeles hot spots next time you're in town.

The Terrace at the Tower Bar and Restaurant
The Terrace at the Tower Bar and Restaurant is the most recent result of the revamping of the Sunset Tower Hotel (opened in 1931 as apartments and once the home of Marilyn Monroe). Nab a seat overlooking the pool and order a Citron Presse (fresh lemon and lime juices and Ketel One). You might spot Nicole Kidman, Renée Zellweger or Leonardo DiCaprio.

Chateau Marmont
Nearly 80 years after casting its first shadows over the Sunset Strip, the Chateau Marmont is still the top contender for Hollywood's coolest hotel. The hotel has welcomed guests such as Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson; Sienna Miller and Matt Dillon have hit the bar. It also has hosted celebrity bashes and benefits, which drew George Clooney, Penélope Cruz, Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams. Check out views of Sunset Boulevard from the suites and have cocktails in the lush garden.

The Beverly Hills Hotel
During Oscar week, this classic, pink palace is best known for the rockin' Night Before Party hosted by Dreamworks studio exec Jeffrey Katzenberg, to benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund. Some even claim this casual fete -- where cover girls rub elbows with leading men and music divas chat with directors -- is better for star gazing than the Oscars themselves. Past guests include Jennifer Aniston, Tom Cruise, Oprah, Leonardo DiCaprio, Halle Berry and Jamie Foxx, who also played DJ. Didn't get an invite to this exclusive soiree? You can still hit the hotel's famed Polo Lounge.

Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles
Pomegranate mojitos are sooo 2006. This year the Windows Lounge at the popular Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles offers the Velvet Rope (Dom Pérignon Rosé, mango purée and Chambord). It has also added appetizers like truffle popcorn to tempt guests and the stars who often pass through, like Meryl Streep, Sean Penn, Tim Robbins and Charlize Theron.

Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt recently stayed in the updated Clark Gable/Carole Lombard penthouse at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel -- need we say more? Home to the first Oscars, this history-laden spot has made a major comeback with more than $30 million in renovations -- including the sexy poolside Tropicana Bar, the late-night burger joint 25 Degrees and the newly reopened Teddy's bar. Fun Oscar fact: Nicole Kidman once dressed here before hitting the Kodak Theatre's red carpet across the street.

Sofitel L.A.
Long an artists' haven -- Fergie, Counting Crows and Three 6 Mafia (who won Best Song in '06) have slept here -- Sofitel L.A. really got hot last summer. That's when its new eatery, Simon L.A., and Rande Gerber's Stone Rose Lounge opened, drawing Eva Longoria, Milla Jovovich and reclusive leading men like Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford and Bill Murray. Don't miss Simon's junk-food dessert platter, which includes Rice Krispies treats and cotton candy.

Dan Tana's
Empty Chianti bottles dangle from the ceiling of this beloved old-school Italian eatery where some dishes are named after famous patrons (Penne Arabiata à la Michael Caine and James Woods Veal Scaloppine, Florentine). During Oscar week '05 Meg Ryan was spotted here, as was Jerry Seinfeld, who was dining with his wife. George Clooney may be the restaurant's biggest supporter as he skipped last year's Oscar parties (after his win for best supporting actor), and opted to celebrate here with his closest friends.

Paint Shop Beverly Hills
Jessica Alba, Cameron Diaz, Mandy Moore, Beyoncé Knowles and Janet Jackson are all devotees of this rejuvenating nail salon. The must-have treatment is their 'Ritas & Rocks pedicure. The festive treatment starts with a foot bath warmed by heated rocks, followed by an exfoliating foot polish, made of agave extract, lime and cilantro oil -- the tequila is optional.
