(CNN) -- At least two winning lottery tickets were sold for the record $370 million Mega Millions jackpot: one in Georgia, the other in New Jersey.

CNN.com asked readers what they would do if they hit the jackpot. Below is a selection of their responses, some of which have been edited for length and clarity:

Cea Giardino of Pickerington, Ohio
First I would quit my teaching job. We know I didn't become a millionaire from teaching. I would give money to the St. Jude hospital and other foundations. I would help my family and friends who really need the help. Then I would go on an extended vacation.

Virgil Mitchell of Biloxi, Mississippi
I would pay for all Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts in my neighborhood. Most of my neighbors need financial assistance to complete their recovery efforts. I would make sure all of us older folks were able to smile and laugh one more time after 18 months of pain, hurt and sadness. Money can't replace it, but it could sure make it easier to deal with.

Rick Roberts of Huntington Beach, California
Quit my job?... Definitely, I'd move back to my hometown of San Diego and open a restaurant chain. Buy a modest (but nice) house and take care of my family.

Paul Zavodnyik of Chicago, Illinois
I would buy the Minnesota Vikings and then fold the team out of spite. I truly detest that team. If I had any money left, I would hire Neil Young to give me guitar lessons.

Chris Lewis of Norcross, Georgia
I would buy my mother a house, split it with my 5 brothers and sisters, give some to church, some to various charities, a donation to my college, spend a year in Italy learning drawing and painting, spend a year in Japan at animation school and spend a year in the U.S. brushing up on graphic design and interactive design skills, buy season tickets for the Tennessee Titans and Dallas Cowboys, Invest a lot of it, and give away some.

Frank Louis of Louisville, Kentucky
I'd buy a $300M island in the middle of the Atlantic and then spend another $50M shipping as many liberals that I could fit there. Then I'd probably take a vacation.

T. Cook of Richmond, Texas
Hire somebody whose job would be to find me, wherever I am, and send me money.

Raeshel Barron of Waterford, Michigan
I would of course pay off all of my bills, and the bills of my grandmother and my parents. I would then quit my job, buy the largest luxury motor home to travel the states with. I would donate some money to the humane society, and some to the heart association. I would find time to take a nice long relaxing cruise to Greece. Then, after I return to the states, I would bank the rest and live off the interest traveling around the states with my dog.

Richard Blaine of Brooklyn, New York
I'd record some of my songs and shoot a film. Then get married in Marseille.

Emma Siesfeld of Lexington, Massachusetts
I would pay my parents back for my and my sister's college education, buy a house and donate the rest to research on how to stop global warming.

Patrick McDonald of Findlay, Ohio
1. I would jump up and down with my wife and kids.
2. I would pass out from the shock.
3. After being revived, I would jump up and down again with kids.
4. I would claim prize.
5. I would pay off all debts of self, family and close friends. This includes buying homes for all my family (new homes with amenities).
6. I would set up funds for my kids so they would never be broke, and could go to whatever college they choose to go.
7. I would jump up and down with wife and kids.
8. I would buy a motor coach and see America.
9. Sleep late.
10. As a professional wedding DJ, I would buy the best system ever known to modern man, and I would do what I love to do, DJ wedding receptions.
11. Continue to jump up and down with my wife & kids ... you can't ever get over winning that much money!

Chris Gansner of St. Louis, Missouri
I would take the lump sum. Pay the taxes immediately. Pay back what I've borrowed. Help attract a Major League Soccer team to St. Louis. Share with my family. Donate to predetermined charities of my choice. Accept no phone calls from anyone other than those I have asked to return my call. Invest. ... Invest. ... Invest. ... Oh, yeah ... and not worry anymore.

Clinton Porter of Knoxville, Tennessee
I would quit my job, invest half the money and travel the world. Then I would come home and do nothing for a year and then consider working so I wouldn't be bored.

Peter Coleman of Syracuse, New York
If I won $370 million, I would seek out my dream job as an unpaid intern on "The Colbert Report." I would also give Naomi, Jeff and Kelly $10 million each as they are watching me type this statement.

Colin Wiesner of Oak Creek, Wisconsin
I would first tender my 2-week notification and hire a good lawyer and financial adviser. Next I would get a passport and disappear into Europe for a few months. Upon returning, I would buy a house in Idaho or Montana and make it a green house (and probably generate more electricity than I can use and sell it back to the power company). Use that location to go skiing constantly in the winter months and then find a summer getaway back home in Wisconsin. I would probably invest a lot in municipal bonds and CDs and live off the interest. After a year or two of living work-free, I'd go back to work as I'm far too young to retire.

Krista Martin of Lambertville, New Jersey
Wow. Where do you begin with $370M? I cried after reading all the wonderful things that people have listed here, and I only hope that the money goes to someone very deserving, that will bring good to this world. I think if I won, I would only tell a select few people and hire myself a lawyer & a financial adviser right away. I would finally marry my boyfriend of 5 years, buy a house, and each of us will get a car. I would buy houses for our parents, create college funds for all the kids in our families. I would quit my job without hesitation and do something meaningful with my life. St. Jude's is the first charity that comes to my mind, and I would also create a foundation for all the stray animals from Hurricane Katrina. The rest of the money will sit in investments to carry me through the rest of my life.

Antrell Patterson of Snellville, Georgia
I would give 10% to my church. My husband and I would go on a honeymoon, as it's been almost 6 years since we've been married. I would also pay off all our debt and buy my grandmother a house. Start a college fund for my 2 boys and my little brother. Invest the rest. I will not change my numbers or move. I will do what I can for the people I love.

Jeffrey Kaplan of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
I would revive Duckpin bowling. This would involve expanding it to other parts of the country, where Duckpins is rarely heard of, including my new home state of Florida. (I am originally from Maryland, where I spent much of my childhood bowling.)

Fred Flores of Los Angeles, California
Spend it. But first take care of my family. Set up a trust fund for any family member that wants an education. Rent an apartment in Paris for a few weeks and learn French. Then on to Italy, find a place on the Amalfi Coast and possibly retire there. Help runaway gay youth find their place in life. Help the truly homeless people.

Tim from Imperial, Missouri
I would build a 10-field lighted baseball park with all the amenities, and then I would form youth leagues, pay for all the coaching, equipment and uniforms, and then, absolutely, positively, not allow parents on the premises. They could watch from closed-circuit TV at a nearby clubhouse I would provide.

Scott Gilbert of Houston, Texas
First I'd get health insurance because then I'd finally be able to afford it! I'd like to buy a boat and travel to underdeveloped areas and help to build schools and hospitals. And, if I could, I'd book a passage to the international space station!

Celia Alario of Torrance, California
I would give $2 million to every member of my family and a bunch of friends and then put the rest into a foundation that would serve grassroots social change makers trying to make the world a better place on a limited budget!

Lyn Rodgers of Cleveland, Ohio
I would pay off my student loans from law school. Then I would pay off my friends' student loans from law school. I would by a 40-acre compound in Florida and build houses for my extended family to live in. Then I would quit my job as a defense employment and labor attorney, travel the world for one year, and return to my new residence in Florida and represent juveniles accused of delinquent acts for free.
