(CNN) -- The death toll kept rising in Algeria on Saturday after a car bomb attack near a coast guard barracks about 50 miles from Algiers.

A coast guard barracks in Dellys, Algeria, lies in ruins after a booby-trapped car exploded there, killing 30 people.
At least 30 people were killed in the port of Dellys, the Algerian Interior Ministry told state news agency Algerie Presse Service.
Hospital officials told The Associated Press that most of the victims were coast guard officials.
Three civilians were also among the dead.
At least 47 people, including three civilians, were wounded.
The attack comes after 19 people were killed and 107 wounded Thursday when a bomb ripped through a crowd waiting to see Algeria's President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in Batna, east of Algiers, Algerie Presse Service reported.
Both attacks are suspected to be linked to al Qaeda, The Associated Press reported.
The French Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning Saturday's bombing in Dellys and expressing its condolences to the victims' families.
The explosion went off during the barracks' morning flag-raising ceremony, AP reported.
There was no claim of responsibility for either attack.
The United States considers Algeria an important player in the fight against terrorism and the spread of Islamic fundamentalism.
However, after the military halted an election that would have installed an Islamic government, the North African country dealt with an insurgency throughout the 1990s that left at least 100,000 people dead, according to the CIA Factbook.
Algeria also contends with a restive Berber minority that seeks autonomy, as well as an al Qaeda affiliate.
On Friday, Interior Minister Noureddine Yazid Zerhouni said terrorists have "one choice: Turn themselves in or die," AP reported. E-mail to a friend ![]()
