BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) -- A cross-dressing suspected Colombian hit man just wasn't feminine enough to pull it off.
Police said the 27-year-old suspect, identified only as "Chucho," was a killer for Colombia's feared Note del Valle cocaine cartel and in order to lie low disguised himself as a woman.
The suspect -- wanted for the killing of a salesman in May -- operated in southwest Narino province in a wig and dress "planning terrorist acts against the security forces," police said in a statement released Wednesday.
The suspect was nabbed when he and his male partner checked into a posh hotel, posing as a couple on a holiday. But locals weren't convinced and tipped off police about the strange couple.
"It was the way he moved, the shape of the hair he was using, all of this prompted suspicions," said regional police chief Col. Fernando Jimenez.
A police video showed officers raiding the hotel room where the two men were staying and throwing the startled suspect against the wall. He is seen wearing a ruffled white skirt, brown eyelet blouse and black socks. A police officer then rips a brown curly wig off his head.
Police said they found guns and ammunition, along with makeup and dresses, in the hotel room, which was located in the municipality of Olaya Herrera in Narino.
The arrest was made on Tuesday. E-mail to a friend ![]()
