(CNN) -- Two gunmen opened fire inside a Vancouver, British Columbia, restaurant early Thursday, killing two people and injuring six in what Canadian police suspect was a targeted attack.
The six survivors have been hospitalized, and two suspects remain at large, according to a Vancouver police news release.
Police were alerted at 4:30 a.m. (7:30 a.m. ET) and found the gunshot victims. The Fortune Happiness Restaurant was in disarray, with tables and chairs overturned and broken glass scattered across the floor.
Police were interviewing six witnesses.

It is unclear why the late-night Chinese eatery in Vancouver's east end was targeted. The area around the restaurant, including an adjacent street, has been closed as police investigate.
The city, located in the province of British Columbia, is about 140 miles (225 kilometers) north of Seattle, Washington. E-mail to a friend ![]()
