COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (CNN) -- Sri Lankan police said at least 15 passengers were killed and 30 more were wounded when a bomb ripped through a bus en route from the country's capital, Colombo, to a tourist resort town Saturday.

The body of a suspected female suicide bomber was found inside the damaged bus and police said they believed she was a member of the Tamil Tiger rebel group.

On Friday the group was blamed for detonating a bomb on a bus that killed six and wounded 51.

The Associated Press reported that the rebels deny both attacks.

Following recent attacks police have imposed a local curfew to prevent further violence on residents.

Fighting between the military and Tamil Tigers has escalated in recent weeks, with the government vowing to dislodge the rebels from their eastern stronghold, including Vakarai.

The rebels have been fighting since 1983 for a separate homeland for the Tamil minority in the north and east, citing decades of discrimination by the majority Sinhalese. About 65,000 people died before the 2002 cease-fire.
