(CNN) -- China's most popular television host, Yang Lan was instrumental in securing China's bid for the 2008 Olympics.

As the image ambassador and now host of the "Olympics Songfest," a TV program dedicated to selecting the Olympics theme song, Yang is widely viewed as the perfect campaigner for Beijing -- both within the country and abroad.

Often referred to as the "Oprah Winfrey" of China, Yang joins Talk Asia to discuss winning the 2008 bid, how prepared China is, and why the Olympics is so important for the country and its people. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
