Clarissa Lee, 12, shot video of her fish tank water sloshing Wednesday from quake tremors felt in Singapore.

Below is a selection of their e-mailed responses, some of which have been edited for length and clarity:

Lemuel Iglesias of Jakarta, Indonesia
We live in the 15th floor of a high-rise in Jakarta. My wife was the first one who felt the jolt. She knocked on my office door to ask me whether I felt it. We looked at each other, then noticed our water dispenser and saw that the water was still making small ripples inside. We decided to rush 15 floors down and met more residents going the same way; the same situation happened just last month! Everyone was really getting familiar with the whole routine evacuation. Being in Jakarta does make you more aware and cautious. It's just one of the things that makes this city really exciting and scary at the same time.

Joey Bourgoin of Bangkok, Thailand
I am a Canadian living in Bangkok and had taken friends up to the 61st & 62nd floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel's rooftop restaurant to get pictures of the sunset. I felt some swaying and as I mentioned it to my two friends, they, too, felt it. The staff started looking a bit surprised and was looking around and asked if we were feeling the earthquake, because we obviously had. Security was quickly speaking into his radio and everyone just stood around waiting for direction. It lasted a few minutes and nothing else was said from the staff, so we left, unsure of what had happened. When I got home I checked my e-mail and immediately found my CNN Alert and found out about the earthquake. I was here for the '04 earthquake and felt that one as well in my 18th floor condo, and small cracks were found throughout my building from that quake. Many building were evacuated for the '04 quake but I have seen nothing so far about any evacuations this time in Bangkok.

I was in the office building in Singapore this evening and the whole place started to shake (sway from side to side) ... I didn't realize at first what it was but it was strong ... they ended up evacuating the building shortly after but it seems most people were in a party mood from getting out and having no means of getting home (the subways were temporarily closed) ... felt sort of like the blackout in New York a few years back when we partied through the streets...

I'm on a business trip to Singapore and staying at the Park Royal Hotel. At about 7:30 p.m., I felt the hotel building was swaying. I'm at the 10th floor of the hotel and at first nothing crossed in my mind about earthquake. My first thought was the hotel is undergoing some renovation now and that could be the cause. However, I felt the building swaying again, nothing rattles but it felt like giddiness. I opened my room door and looked at the corridor, it was quiet and everyone seems to be in their room. Then, I moved away from my table and stood still and that's when I noticed the room curtain swaying, too. Then I realized something serious is happening -- it must be Indonesia! The swaying lasted for about three to four minutes and it was my first experience. Pretty freaky.

I'm sitting here in Phuket, Thailand, after hearing reports about the earthquake at Indonesia. Heard reports that it is moving toward Phuket as well. Throughout Thailand people are panicking and evacuating. Just heard that the water level has dropped as well. My prayers have begun...

Denise Redlinger of Singapore
I felt the shake on the 7th floor of our apartment building. I was on the phone with my husband on the 29th floor at his work before he was evacuated. We felt the swaying go on for a while, so I was not surprised to learn it was two quakes.

Paul Dick of Jakarta, Indonesia
We were on the 26th floor of the Ritz Carlton in Jakarta and the windows started to make a lot of groaning noises. Some small parts of concrete and plaster fell from the ceiling and walls. We were asked to evacuate down the stairwell but by the time we reached the street it had stopped. There didn't seem to be much panicking and within a few minutes we were allowed to return to the 26th floor. The building was swaying quiet severely to begin with and as we walked down the stairs we found ourselves bumping off the walls.

Bryan Lee of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
At first, I thought my leg was shaking, and then all of a sudden my office glass door was shaking without any reason. I ordered all of our people to evacuate the building. It shook for almost five minutes on the top floor, but once we reached the ground floor, everything seemed fine. As if nothing happened, some people on the streets had no idea what had just happened.

Deep Banerjee of Singapore
I was on the 24th floor when I felt the entire building shake. Initially I thought it was my imagination but really freaked out when I saw the tables shake. I ran outside to see others racing downstairs.

Corinne Rogers of Penang, Malaysia
We live in Penang, Malaysia. Our house is right on the beach and we just had the police come down to tell us about the tsunami warning. We did not feel the earthquake and we are just waiting to see what we will do next as we watch CNN Asia. Keep on praying.

Su Lin Wee of Singapore
I was at my desk in the office at 7:10 p.m. Singapore time when I felt the tremors. At first I thought I was falling ill and was giddy, so I didn't think much of it for about half a minute. But after a while I realized my office chair was shifting slightly on its rollers and the tremors seemed much more pronounced. This lasted for at least a minute.

Tew Chee Kwong of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
I felt the tremors for 30 seconds. As we rarely experience earthquakes in Malaysia, I was not sure what was happening at first until my housemate alerted me it was an earthquake. I straightaway read the news from CNN.com and got the latest information from here. Thanks CNN, for providing all latest news for us.

Eckhard Kleine of Singapore
During the earthquake, I was still working on the 15th floor in an office building of Beach Road in Singapore. I've never had such an experience in my life: I felt like I was shaking until I realized that it was not me but the entire building. All people left their offices and rushed down the stairs, much like during a fire drill. Seems that here nothing was damaged.

Joan Peters of Alpharetta, Georgia
Upon receiving your alert, I instant-messaged my grandson (from Virginia) and wife, now living in Bali. They were unaware of the earthquake. Did you know, Balinese light candles and burn incense with their offerings to keep tsunamis away. Rina, wife from Java, will light a candle for me.

At 7:45 p.m. Malaysia time, I was still at the office in Ampang, Selangor. While using the computer, I could feel the shaking of my chair and I thought it was only my feeling. Then someone shouted, "This building is shaking, look at the mug, the water is also vibrating." Then, a second time I could feel the shaking, and it was longer then the first one, so everybody in the office shut down their computers and left the building. After 10 minutes we began to think there was nothing going wrong, so we entered the building again. After that I took time to surf CNN.com to see what happened. I was correct: There was an earthquake!

Alan Fu of Singapore
We hardly get to feel earthquakes in Singapore. Over the last few years, people have reported feeling the tremors. This time, I was there, working late in the office past 7 p.m. I looked at the monitor and felt a giddiness. I thought I was just tired and need to go home. Then the remaining people in the office said the same about the giddiness. We looked out the window and saw a mass of people from offices around leaving the building. Our first thoughts were, "Our neighbors in Indonesia must be having another earthquake!" Moments later, "CNN Breaking News" was in my mailbox. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
