Let the festivities begin
The start of Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Light begins and lasts for five days with fireworks taking a main role and the lighting of candles as a symbol of hope.

From Berlin to Bush Country
President Bush is set to welcome German Chancellor Angela Merkel to his ranch in Crawford, Texas for two days of informal talks.

Italian corruption case
A new hearing takes place on the corruption case involving former Italian billionaire Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and British lawyer David Mills in Milan.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10

Sniper hearing
Scheduled date of hearing for Sgt. Evan Vela, who is charged with premeditated murder in the deaths of Iraqis. Allegedly, Vela and others would plant fake weapons and bomb-making materials and then kill whoever tried to take the materials.

Historic procession
The Lord Mayor's Show takes place in London. The annual procession of floats and bands has marched through the city's streets for nearly 800 years and attracts nearly half-a-million people.

Wacky racers
The Score Baja 1000 Desert Race takes place with teams of auto enthusiasts driving desert-going buggies and cars charging across 1,000 miles of Baja California in Mexico.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11

Remembrance Sunday
The UK and other Commonwealth countries mark the sacrifices given by their armed services in World War I and other conflicts on the anniversary of Armistice Day.

X marks the parliamentarian
The population of Slovenia will visit the ballot box to vote in the country's parliamentary elections.

Air force
The 10th annual Dubai Airshow takes place in the United Arab Emirates. Over 140 aircraft from Russian MIG and U.S. F16 fighter jets to the Airbus A380 superjumbo will take to the skies.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12

Lebanon elections
With the backdrop of violence and the assassination of an anti-Syrian MP's and lawmakers in the last few months, the country is set to hold presidential elections.

Climate change
The next meeting of the United Nations and World Meteorological Organization climate change panel takes place in Valencia, Spain. The fourth report on climate change is scheduled to be released on November 17.

To Mars and beyond
The European Space Agency hosts a conference in Netherlands which focuses on the Mars Express mission.

Hang loose, dude
The three big surfing competitions that make up the sport's Triple Crown take place at North Shore, Hawaii.

Denmark is scheduled to hold its parliamentary elections.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14

Full speed ahead
The new high-speed rail link from London to the Channel Tunnel opens with Eurostar trains now departing the UK capital from St Pancras station that was restored and extended at a cost of $1.6 billion. The new high speed link will cut journey times between Paris and London by 20 minutes.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend
Sotheby's is scheduled to auction off a rare 84.37 carat diamond expected to sell for over $12 million.

World Diabetes Day
Over 140 monuments around the world including the London Eye, the Leaning Tower in Pisa and the Empire State Building will turn themselves blue, the to raise awareness of diabetes.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15

The first bottles of the new Beaujolais Nouveau are released starting a race around the world to see who can serve the first wine of this year's harvest.
