Budding business leaders participate in a new entrepreneurship program, the first of its kind in Qatar.

"In Focus" -- Entrepreneurship in the Middle East

This week on Marketplace Middle East, we take a look at the growing role of entrepreneurs in the region. Governments in the Middle East are now realizing the potential and benefits of 'homegrown' entrepreneurialism, rather than relying on expatriate labor. To encourage aspiring businessmen, many Middle East countries have launched mammoth educational facilities aimed at helping would-be entrepreneurs. Schams Elwazer follows a budding entrepreneur who hopes one day to open her own business.

Entrepreneurialism is only recently an encouraged phenomenon in the region and this week Marketplace Middle East sits down with two major players from the region: Esam Janahi, Chairman of Gulf Finance House and Ferit Sahenk, Chairman of Dogus Group. Not only do both men head up multi-million dollar organizations, but they are both under the age of 50. We sit down with them and discuss what challenges budding business leaders face in the region.
