(CNN) -- Are you ready to make the commitment to a healthier, happier and longer life?
Get in shape in 2008 with CNN's chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta by signing the pledge below and join us as we kickoff our great American Fit Nation tour this summer.
Fit Nation's 2008 "Commit To Get Fit" Online Pledge:
Eat Less -- This is 50% of the overall equation. If you eat fewer calories, you'll have fewer to burn off which makes it easier to maintain a healthy weight.
Move More -- This is the other 50% of the equation. We already talked about reducing the calories you take in. Consider increasing the number of calories you burn off as well.
Small Changes -- It's all about the small changes. If you save 100 calories by switching out a soda for water, that's a savings of 700 calories per week. Make it two sodas, and you're talking 1,400 calories -- that half a pound!
Stay Accountable -- You can't go it alone. Yes, you! Don't be afraid to ask for help. The best way to do this is to find a fit buddy. You may remember our CNN Fit Buddies from last year? They said the thing that helped them most was being accountable to each other for what they ate.
Pass It On -- Education is the key. By committing to this pledge, you're telling us you've read it, and we're hoping it has sunk in. Now that you're a fitness expert pass it on to your family members, friends and colleagues!
