(InStyle.com) -- Here are 10 new tips to help you get glossier locks:

Wish your locks were super shiny like Angie Harmon's? Try a cellophane, experts say.

Wish your locks were super shiny like Angie Harmon's? Try a cellophane, experts say.

1. Book a massage

A recent study at Massachusetts General Hospital showed that scalp massages, which increase blood flow, may keep your hair healthy.

A Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ceremony (shuuemura-usa.com for salons) includes a heavenly shiatsu-inspired scalp massage, plus a custom shampoo and conditioning treatment.

2. Carve a jack-o'-lantern

Got thinning strands? Snack on an ounce of pumpkin seeds three times a week. It slows production of DHT, a metabolic testosterone by-product that may make hair fall out, says New York nutritionist Keri Glassman.

3. Get a wrap

Don't Miss

Wish your locks were super shiny like Angie Harmon's? Try a cellophane. "It's like a long-lasting lip gloss for your hair," says New York colorist Rick Wellman. Glossier than a glaze, this salon treatment coats the cuticles, making them lie flat so that hair reflects more light (for up to six weeks). And it doesn't change the underlying hair color, so no roots -- and no maintenance! InStyle.com: Celebrity hairstyle directory

4. Sweat-proof your strands

To hit the gym without ruining your blowout, try this trick from Los Angeles, California, hair guru Rona O'Connor: Place a headband beneath your hairline, flip hair upside down, twist and coil hair into a bun then anchor with bobby pins and secure with a soft scrunchie. Afterward, shake out hair and use the cool setting on your hair dryer to blast away perspiration. InStyle.com: Tips from star beauty experts

5. Don't be a flake

To kill the fungus that leads to dandruff, use a therapeutic anti-dandruff shampoo every time you shower, as well as a conditioner that contains the ingredient pyrithione zinc, which will keep you from rinsing away up to 70 percent of the shampoo's active ingredients. Try Pureology's new Dandruff Scalp Cure conditioner.

6. Sleep on it

Leave-in treatments hydrate and repair hair while you catch your z's -- without leaving a residue on your pillow.

7. Seek clarity

Deep-cleansing shampoos are not just for those with oily locks. The New York hairstylist David Evangelista says they work for everyone by removing dirt and product residue so that conditioners and chemical treatments such as straighteners can really do their jobs. Choose one with citric or acetic acid (like Nexxus Aloe Rid), and lather up once a week if your locks are oily, or for dry hair, every two weeks.

8. Let heat heal

Blow-dryers can do more than remove moisture. They can activate and intensify conditioning and repairing ingredients -- wheat, xylose sugar and soy proteins -- in new heat-responsive products. Apply one, such as Redken Extreme Iron Repair, then crank up the heat -- but not the styling damage.

9. Make a fresh start

Anne Hathaway, Hayden Panettiere and Eva Longoria Parker know you don't have to go to great lengths for stellar hair: They're all embracing cropped styles. "Shorter cuts are edgier than long ones, but they can still be soft and pretty," Evangelista says. "They're great options if you're in a style rut or have damaged hair."

10. Grab a cheeseburger

Here's a reason to enjoy eating a burger even more: your hair! This cheeseburger is loaded with just-right nutrients: iron, zinc, B vitamins (in the meat), calcium (the cheese), the antioxidant lycopene (the tomato), biotin (the lettuce), and niacin (the bun).
