(InStyle.com) -- Follow these expert tips to keep your cheer intact:

Stock up on healthy snacks like these dried vegetables during the busy holiday season.

Stock up on healthy snacks like these dried vegetables during the busy holiday season.

1. Relieve your hangover

Sure, drinking water before bed will help. But did you know your morning coffee can also soften the jackhammer in your head? It constricts blood vessels, which reduces swelling, says New York nutritionist Cynthia Sass.

2. Fake eight hours of sleep

Want more vibrant-looking eyes? Curl lashes, apply two coats of mascara, and then line inner rims with a concealer or pink pencil.

Finish by adding a dot of sparkly liner (try Dior) to the inner corners of eyes and silver shadow onto the center of lids. "This way, you get a flash of sparkle when you blink," says London, England, makeup artist Lucia Pieroni, who used Clé de Peau Beauté Eye Quad No. 14 at the spring '09 Vera Wang show.

3. Protect your dark manicure

Dark nail colors can look cool but fade fast. "Manicures should last a week, but cold weather makes polish chip faster," says New York nail pro Elle, who recommends donning gloves every time you step outside.

4. Stay toned -- at your desk

No time for your fitness class? Using 5-pound weights, do three sets of 12 reps of each move: rear lunges with biceps curl, squats with shoulder press, lateral arm raises and triceps extensions.

"It's the minimum you'll need to maintain muscle fitness until you can get back to the gym," says Los Angeles, California, trainer Ramona Braganza, who works with Halle Berry.

5. Slim down instantly

Before you slip into that curve-hugging dress, throw on the Hanes Go Figure Waist Smoother. It offers support and coverage from the bra line to mid-thigh, smoothing away bumps and making everything appear tighter without creating any ridges.

6. Stock healthy snacks

"Packaged foods are convenient, but so many are loaded with sodium and high-fructose corn syrup," says Cynthia Sass. Her healthy solution: Just Tomatoes, etc. dried vegetables, which are crunchy, portable and packed with fiber and phytonutrients. She suggests taking them on the run.

"One serving of the carrot bits has 25 percent of the fiber and 600 percent of the vitamin A you need daily," she explains. In case you're wondering, vegetable-derived sources of vitamin A are safe at that dose.

7. Get with the band

Don't worry if you don't have time for a blowout. "Updos actually work better on a blowout that's a day or two old because the hair is less slippery and holds shape better," says New York stylist Ted Gibson.

For a quick party look, he recommends teasing hair gently at the crown, sweeping it into a low, messy bun, and then placing a festive headband (we love the ones from Jennifer Behr) 1 to 2 inches back from the hairline.

8. Save your feet

Four hours of holiday cock-tailing plus 5-inch heels equals a foot hangover from hell. Alleviate your pain by placing a tennis ball under one foot while standing on carpeting. Gently press down and flare toes out, then squeeze them together. Repeat five times. Then move the ball to another spot on the foot and repeat.

9. Tap into natural energy

"Energizing herbs like ginseng and Rhodiola rosea reduce fatigue and can help you cope more efficiently with stress," says Frank Lipman, New York physician and author of "Spent: End Exhaustion and Feel Great." He recommends taking 100 to 200 mg of an Asian ginseng extract or 200 to 600 mg of Rhodiola rosea every day.

10. Don't lose your glow

For skin that looks as good at the end of the night as it did at the beginning, start by applying a primer that contains a tiny bit of self-tanner. It will help makeup last longer and give you a subtle glow so you look refreshed even after your makeup has worn away.
