Red carpet retrospective

(InStyle) -- While we're waiting to see what 2008's red carpet will hold, take a look back at some of the gorgeous gowns from Oscars past.

In 2004 we saw a Versace classic recreated for Catherine Zeta-Jones. Gwyneth Patrow went strapless with a light pink Stella McCarthy in 2005. Stealing the show in 2006, Nicole Kidman showed up sans escort, but in a beautiful Balenciaga gown.
