LONDON, England (CNN) -- A British court rejected an appeal from Heather Mills on Tuesday and decided to release the full ruling in her divorce case with former Beatle Paul McCartney.

Judge Hugh Bennett released a summary of his ruling Monday but had withheld the full judgment until the outcome of Mills' appeal.

Mills' lawyer David Rosen said she opposed the publication of the full ruling because it contained private details about her and her 4-year-old daughter with McCartney.

"She as a mother has strived to protect her child and felt there were certain issues and matters in the judgment which affected that," Rosen told reporters after Tuesday's ruling.

Rosen said Mills accepted the Court of Appeals' decision.

Bennett on Monday ordered McCartney to pay Mills 24.3 million pounds ($48.6 million) in their divorce.

Mills had sought an award of nearly 125 million pounds ($251 million), the court said, while McCartney proposed 15.8 million pounds ($31.6 million).

The judgment included 35,000 pounds ($70,000) a year for the couple's daughter, Beatrice. It also included 600,000 pounds ($1.2 million) a year for Mills and 2.5 million pounds ($5 million) for her to purchase property in London.

Mills represented herself in the divorce hearings but was represented by a lawyer for Tuesday's appeal.

McCartney and Mills failed to agree on a settlement ending their four-year marriage in divorce hearings last month, leaving the judge to decide the terms.

The pair married in 2002 after meeting at a charity event and split four years later.

At the time, they described the split as amicable, despite widespread reports of a tempestuous relationship between McCartney and the former model. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
