(CNN) -- India collapsed to a 50-run defeat to Australia in the latest one-day international in Adelaide on Sunday after appearing set for their second successive win over the home side.

The Aussies struggled to 203 for nine in their 50 overs and India were 115 for four in reply until crumbling to 153 all out.

The win all but guarantees Australia a place in the final of the triangular series which also includes Sri Lanka.

India recovered from losing three wickets for four runs to slump to 59 for four as captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh compiled a 56-run stand.

But Yuvraj holed out off a Brad Hogg long-hop to be caught in the deep by Stuart Clark, sparking a collapse.

When Dhoni was run out for 38 the game was up for India as left-armer Mitchell Johnson led the Australian bowlers with three for 42.

All-rounder James Hopes did the early damage with his medium pacers taking two for 16.

Australia also struggled with the bat on what appeared to be a good wicket as left-armer Irfan Pathan led the Indians with four for 41, Ishant Sharma also chipping in with two wickets.

After Adam Gilchrist went for 15 and captain Ricky Pontng failed again with the bat, it was left to a half-century by Michael Clarke to lift the Australians past 200.

Clarke made 79 from 108 balls in a man of the match performance and found good support from Hogg with 32. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
