(CNN) -- Usain Bolt could become the sprinting sensation of the Olympic Games if he keeps up his recent form.

Bolt streaks to the second quickest time ever in the 100m in Kingston, Jamaica.
The 21-year-old Jamaican sprinter stunned the track world with the second-fastest 100 meters in history at the Jamaican International Invitational in Kingston on Saturday.
His time of 9.76 was 0.02 seconds off the world record held by fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell and came in only his third ever competitive 100m race.
Previously the focus of the young Jamaican has been on the 200 meters event. He picked up a silver medal at the World Championships in Osaka last year, beaten to the gold by Tyson Gay, the reigning 100 and 200 meter world champion.
Now Bolt's coach says the young Jamaican is aiming toward a 100-meter showdown with Gay at the Reebok Grand Prix on May 31 in New York.
No official announcement had been made, but Bolt's coach Glen Mills said Wednesday that the Jamaican "is scheduled to race Tyson Gay in New York."
Bolt's schedule will be released on Thursday, his agent Ricky Simms said.
After his stunning time in Kingston Bolt said: "I was definitely surprised when I saw the time. I was in shape for a 9.85."
Bolt recorded the time after two false starts and with a tail wind of 1.8 that was below the maximum allowed by the IAAF.
Current world-record holder Powell did not compete because of a pulled pectoral muscle, an injury that is not expected to affect the long term preparations for the Games in August.
