(CNN) -- Jamaica's Usain Bolt underlined his superb pre-Olympic form by recording the fastest 200 meters of the year at an international meeting in Athens on Sunday.
Bolt is all smiles as he crosses the line in the Athens Olympic stadium.
Bolt, who broke the 100 meters world record in May, clocked 19.67 seconds despite a sluggish start to win by a massive margin from Brendan Christian of Antigua, who was second in 20.36.
"I am very satisfied with my performance," Bolt told the Associated Press
"I feel sure I will be very strong at the Games."
Bolt has not confirmed he will attempt the 100-200 double in Beijing, but has had his best results to date over the longer distance and had even considered moving up to 400 meters this season.
Asked if he would be going for the 200 world record of 19.32 seconds, which Michael Johnson set in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Bolt said not yet.
"Not this year, maybe next," he said.
Earlier, Derick Atkins of the Bahamas impressed in winning the 100 meters in 10.10 seconds, ahead of American sprinters Darvis Patton and Mark Jelks.
Atkins, runner-up at last year's World Championships, surged in the second half of the race to win easily into a slight head wind.
In the women's 100, Veronica Campbell of Jamaica won in a fast 10.92 seconds to equal the meeting record that has stood since 1999.
"I'm satisfied with my race," said Campbell, the reigning 200 Olympic champion.
Campbell is to run the 200 and the 4x100 relay but not the 100 at the Beijing Olympics next month.
In the men's 110m hurdles, world record holder Dayron Robles set another meeting record by winning in 13.04 seconds.
"Getting the Olympic gold medal is the most important thing to me, because it's something you can only do every four years," the Cuban said.
"I know Liu (Xiang) will be difficult to beat. The people love him in China and he's a good person."
Robles ran a 12.87 last month, bettering Liu's previous mark of 12.89.
In the British Olympic trials in Birmingham, triple jumper Phillips Idowu recorded a best of the year 17.58 meters.
The reigning world indoor champion is seen as one of the leading contenders for gold in the triple jump in Beijing.
