(CNN) -- England cricket coach Peter Moores has left the door open for former captain Michael Vaughan to return to the Test side ahead of the tour of the West Indies.

Vaughan has continued to maintain his desire to play for England despite stepping down as captain.
Vaughan, who stepped down in August and has played little cricket since, was not selected for the tour, although he trained with the elite performance squad in Bangalore.
The 34-year-old has consistently made clear his ambition to play in next summer's Ashes and Moores refused to rule out such a possibility.
Moores told Sky Sports News: "Michael wants to play for England again, he is very keen to, and with that committed himself to go to Bangalore for the performance camp.
"Unfortunately, with the terrorist action in Mumbai it was cut short. But we do know in Michael we have someone who is an outstanding individual and also a fantastic player."
Meanwhile, England have been fined for a slow over-rate during the six-wicket defeat to India in the first Test.
Kevin Pietersen's side were ruled to have been one over short of the target in Chennai when time allowances were considered and a fine has been imposed.
Players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with captains being fined 10 per cent.
