LONDON, England -- David Beckham trained with English Premier League leaders Arsenal on Friday in an effort to maintain his fitness for international duty during his American club's off-season break.

Beckham is keen to collect his 100th England cap in the friendly against Switzerland next month.
The Los Angeles Galaxy player asked manager Arsene Wenger if he could train with the club and made his first appearance at their London Colney base, near his Hertfordshire home.
Beckham is hoping to be selected for his 100th cap in England's friendly against Switzerland on February 6.
He hopes that training with Arsenal will show new England coach Fabio Capello that he is serious about extending his international career.
Beckham will mainly train with Arsenal's reserves and will only join the first team squad occasionally when they are short of players.
He will return to LA in mid-February in time for their pre-season friendlies ahead of the season, which starts in March. E-mail to a friend ![]()
