Two goals in three minutes just before half-time enabled Everton to win 2-1 at Wigan and move into the top four in the English Premier League on Sunday.

Manchester City maintained their unbeaten home record this season with a 1-1 draw against West Ham which leaves them fifth, two points adrift of Everton.
A costly error by Wigan defender Titus Bramble presented Everton with a 42nd minute lead, his mistimed back pass being snapped up by Andrew Johnson, who fired past Chris Kirkland.
Just before the break it became 2-0 when Wigan failed to clear a corner and Phil Jagielka drove the ball into the goalmouth where Joleon Lescott tapped in.
Second-half sub Jason Koumas brought Wigan back into the game in the 53rd minute when his free kick went in off Jagielka.
Wigan manager Steve Bruce was left to reflect ruefully on his side's careless defending. "When you make those mistakes in the Premier League then you get punished," he said.
Manchester City, who had beaten West ham 1-0 in a midweek FA Cup replay, found themselves trailing the same opponents after eight minutes at Eastlands. Carlton Cole, who had replaced Dean Ashton, scored a spectacular effort after Richard Dunne's misplaced pass enabled Freddy Ljungberg to center.
