TAMALE, Ghana -- Senegal coach Henri Kasperczak resigned on Monday -- less than 24 hours after his side's disappointing 3-1 defeat to Angola in the African Cup of Nations.

Kasperczak bowed to the inevitable after his side's disappointing 3-1 defeat to Angola.
Assistant coach Lamine Ndiaye will take over from the Pole for Senegal's remaining Group D tie against South Africa in Tamale.
"After the defeat to Angola yesterday I presented my resignation to the president of the (Senegalese football) federation," said Kazperczak.
"It was accepted, so I am now no longer the national coach."
Senegal are facing early elimination from the 16-team competition, needing to beat the likewise disappointing South African team in their final group game and hoping the result of the game between Angola and Tunisia goes in their favor.
Kasperczak, 61, took charge of Senegal in May 2006 after previous stints with Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Mali.
Senegal were expected to mount a strong challenge after finishing second and third in the previous two African Cup of Nations competitions. E-mail to a friend ![]()
