BERLIN, Germany -- Hamburg missed the chance to climb into second place in the German Bundesliga after being held 0-0 away to struggling Nuremburg on Sunday.

Frank Rost helped earn Hamburg a point by saving Zvjezdan Misimovic's penalty attempt.
Hamburg moved to within a point of second-placed Werder Bremen, who were hammered 6-3 at Stuttgart on Saturday, while Bayern Munich remain seven points clear at the top.
Fourth-placed Bayer Leverkusen boosted their hopes of Champions League qualification by cutting the gap on Hamburg to a single point with a 2-0 victory at home to Hannover in Sunday's other match.
Hamburg had goalkeeper Frank Rost to thank as they were lucky to come away with a point.
Rost saved Zvjezdan Misimovic's penalty attempt just before halftime, while David Jarolim's shot cracked off the Nuremburg crossbar in the 66th minute.
Leverkusen, who reached the 2002 Champions League final, took the lead in the 30th minute against 10th-placed Hannover when Fanis Gekas chipped over goalkeeper Robert Enke.
And nine minutes later, the Greece forward turned provider when he passed to Tranquillo Barnetta for the second goal.
Leverkusen now have a three-point cushion over fifth-placed Schalke, 2-0 victors over Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday and still in this season's Champions League after seeing off Porto in midweek to reach the last eight. E-mail to a friend ![]()
