LONDON, England -- West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green has replaced the injured Chris Kirkland as England manager Fabio Capello was forced into a late change to his 23-man squad for next week's friendly international away to France.
Green gets his chance because Wigan's Chris Kirkland has injured his back.
It was the second goalkeeping change in 24 hours after Paul Robinson, back in the Tottenham side after being dropped in January, returned to England duty following an injury to Villa keeper Scott Carson.
Kirkland suffered a back injury during Wigan's 3-1 Premier League defeat away to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
He played the whole 90 minutes at Ewood Park despite being injured early in that match..
Wednesday's match in Paris will be Capello's second in charge of England, following last month's 2-1 friendly win over Switzerland at Wembley, since he was appointed following the team's failure to qualify for the Euro 2008 finals.
Bakary Sagna, Arsenal's scorer in the 2-1 defeat at Chelsea on Sunday, has been forced out of the French squad after suffering an ankle injury soon after scoring. E-mail to a friend
