MONACO -- Monaco's winless run continued on Monday as Rennes scored an injury-time goal to record a 2-1 away win and inflict a fourth successive French league defeat on the 2004 Champions League finalists.

Rennes players celebrate their last-gasp winner to leave Monaco deep in relegation trouble in the French league.

The reverse leaves Monaco without a win since January 23 and leaves them just three points above the relegation zone with most clubs having only seven matches left to play.

Veteran Rennes striker Mikael Pagis was at the heart of the victory forcing goalkeeper Flavio Roma into turning his shot around for a corner in the 19th minute.

From the corner by Jerome Leroy, Petter Hansson rose to head home after Roma had made a mess of coming out to punch the ball clear.

However, Monaco rebounded to go in level at the break after Massamba Sambou headed home Nene's free-kick in the 37th minute.

But Rennes snatched a last-gasp win, and surged into fifth place in the table, when Pagis played a brilliant one-two with Sylvain Wiltord before slotting the ball past Roma. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
