BERLIN, Germany -- Halil Altintop headed Schalke up to second place in the Bundesliga table with a 52nd minute strike which gave them a 1-0 home win over Hansa Rostock.

Altintop celebrates the 52nd minute header which sentt Schalke up to second in the Bundesliga.

The Champions League quarterfinalists cut Bayern Munich's advantage to six points but the leaders can increase the margin when they meet Bochum on Sunday.

Hamburg dropped to third after losing 1-0 at Stuttgart, who moved into the top five for the first time this season after Germany midfielder Roberto Hilbert hit the 20th minute winner.

Werder Bremen moved up to fourth by winning 2-1 win at Hertha Berlin.

Bremen's Swedish striker Markus Rosenberg scored after less than a minute as Berlin goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny made a hash of blocking the low shot.

Hertha equalized through Brazilian striker Andre Lima, who headed home after 10 minutes, but Bremen midfielder Tim Borowski hit the winner after 73 minutes.

There was crowd trouble in Frankfurt, where Nuremberg beat Eintracht 3-1.

The game was halted for 20 minutes after Nuremberg fans threw fireworks onto the pitch at Frankfurt's Commerzbank-Arena.

Michael Fink put the home side ahead after three minutes before Nuremberg's Angelos Charisteas leveled the scores 15 minutes later.

After 30 minutes, referee Peter Gagelmann marched the two teams back to the changing rooms after several flares hit the playing surface and police moved in to calm the supporters.

When the game resumed Nuremberg's striker Robert Vittek put his side ahead with a 49th minute strike before midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic notched a third seven minutes from time.

Arminia Bielefeld picked up their first win of 2008 when they beat Karlsruhe 1-0 with an injury time goal from Leonidas Kampantais.The win lifts Bielefeld out of the bottom three into 15th.
