(CNN) -- Roma are optimistic that captain Francesco Totti will be fit for the Italian Supercup match against Inter Milan on August 24 as he recovers from ruptured knee ligaments.

Totti scored 18 goals last season before he was injured against Livorno on April 19.
Corriere dello Sport reported that Totti is expected back at the club's Trigoria training base to begin his pre-season preparations on July 5, before the team's return from their summer break on July 20.
The 31-year-old Totti ruptured knee ligaments against Livorno on April 19, which cut short his season before Roma's 2-1 Italian Cup victory against Inter. He had scored 18 goals in all competitions.
Corriere dello Sport also reported that now Roma have signed John Arne Riise and Mirko Vucinic and with Simone Loria expected to finalize a deal by the end of the week, coach Luciano Spalletti's priority is another striker.
They are keen on Ajax's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar but less enthusiastic about the asking price of $46.5 million and long-time target Vincenzo Iaquinta of Juventus is their likeliest signing.
