(CNN) -- Robinho has cast doubt on Real Madrid's bid to sign Cristiano Ronaldo by revealing that he does not want to be part of a swap deal for the Manchester United winger.

Robinho is hoping to continue his career with Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Robinho is hoping to continue his career with Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Brazil forward Robinho insisted that he wanted to stay with the Spanish champions despite speculation also linking him with a $60 million transfer to United's Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Real will need to raise funds if the English club surprisingly back down and allow Ronaldo to leave, with a $135 million transfer fee expected to be required to sign the 23-year-old.

Robinho, who has been at the Bernabeu for three years and played a big role in last season's title success, said Sunday that he would prefer to stay in Madrid if he had the choice.

"I do not want to be part of a deal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo," Robinho told Spanish newspaper AS.

"The thing in my mind is Madrid. I am not willing to be part of any swap deal. I expect to stay here with Real Madrid."

If he stays, the 50-cap international may miss the start of the Spanish season after being selected in Brazil's squad for the Olympic Games in China next month.

"The national team has always been a priority for me. If the club lets me go then I will, but if not then I will remain in Madrid," he told AS.

Ronaldo will also miss the start of next season, wherever he is playing.

The Portugal star is ruled out for up to 12 weeks after aggravating an ankle problem at the Euro 2008 finals, and has stoked speculation over his future in interviews given outside the medical clinic in Amsterdam where he has been receiving treatment.

Ronaldo told a Portuguese TV channel that he agreed with FIFA president Sepp Blatter's comments about long-term player contracts equating to "slavery" and intimated that he would prefer to join Real if possible.
